It's quite possible to make money form the Internet without having a website but there are now so many easy ways to do this that if you are serious about making money online you should definitely have one or more websites of your own.
The quickest way to start is to buy one "off the shelf" and go from there.
Each page of your site can contain advertising from Google with AdSense and you can be paid for each click on those links. This means that you literally can earn while you sleep
There are lots of ways that you can have a web site and many ways to profit from it when you have one. In ten minutes time you could have your own online shopping mall which sells digital goods day and night.
These online shopping malls are incredibly easy to own and dirt cheap to set up because all the hard work is done for you by someone else.

A store like that could be the first part of your web based business empire and you could link other sites into it as you create them.
Once you have a website you could take the time to build your own or buy more ready made and just link them together. It's just so easy now anyone can do it.
You can then list it with the search engines or use AdWords or Overture (see Glossary) to advertise it. That should also get it picked up by the search engines.
